The first quarter of the 2008-2009 school year is complete and we have had a great start to this school year. The first quarter has seen the various week of prayer activities, ITBS testing, Wesley Woods campout, outdoor education classes, the Rapids teams involved in cross-country and volleyball, and a bunch of other activities. I would like to remind all parents that the parent-teacher conferences will occur from 3:30 – 6:00 pm on October 14 (Tuesday) and from 8:00 – 3:00 on October 15. If you have not set up your appointment with your child’s teacher yet, please do so as quickly as possible. Fall break will be October 16-19, with classes resuming October 20. Our annual AWS Grandparents Day will be Friday, October 24 and grandparents are invited to the elementary program at 10:00 am and the middle school program at 12:30 in the AWS gym.
The capital campaign to build a new middle school is just about complete. There were two goals to be met before the project can go forward and those were to identify 100% of the $6.5 million in pledges and collect at least 50% of that in cash. The good news is that more than 50% of the cash is already in hand and 96% of the pledges have been identified. We are down to under $300,000 to identify yet in pledges and so if you have not made a pledge yet to this important project, please contact the AWS or Collegedale Church offices and let us know how you can help.
