Principal's Message 6/16/2009
Summer is now here and I want to thank everyone for a great school year in 2008-2009. God has again richly blessed our school in so many ways – we have a lot to be thankful for.

As usual in the summer there are many projects going on around the school. Mr. Jones and his work crew have cleaned the hallways, painted classrooms and hallways, and have tackled a number of other projects. We’ve had the carpet replaced in four classrooms and we are preparing to install a dividing curtain in our gym.

I am pleased to announce that Shelley Higgins will be joining our staff in 2009-2010 as one of our 8th grade teachers. Mrs. Higgins will be teaching language arts and social studies for us next year. We are excited that she is joining our staff team. She has already been in the building starting to get settled in her new classroom. I am also pleased to announce that Mrs. Tammy Musick will be continuing on at AWS as one of our 5th grade teachers next year. Mrs. Musick did a great job for us in filling in for 2/3’s of last school year and we are excited that she will be continuing on with us again next year.

There are several Rapids sports camps this summer. Please contact Mrs. Spicer at 396-2122 or Coach Reading at the same number for more information on times and dates.

Construction is in full swing on the new middle school. The site work is just about complete and all we need is a few more dry days and they will be finished. It is exciting to visit the site and see the layout of the building.

Students need to remember their summer work in reading and in math. Please contact the office if you need a copy of the information. By completing these projects this summer, not only do the students stay fresh with their math and reading skills, but they can also earn a few dress-down day passes for the 2009-2010 school year.
